Marisol Sanchez, LICSW/LCSW

Founder & Psychotherapist

Marisol is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist licensed in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and California with an MSW from the University of Southern California (USC). She founded The Sanchez Center with the goal of providing mental health services to communities that have been otherwise not represented in the mental health field. Marisol has more than fifteen years of experience in the field of mental health and has worked in a variety of settings such as community mental health, school settings, and hospitals- Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Kaiser Permanente. She is fluent in Spanish/English.

In her practice, she aims to help professionals and young adults with their personal and professional struggles, navigating life transitions, identity and family difficulties. Being a bilingual Latina—born and raised in Los Angeles, California—with parents that immigrated to this country at a young age, allows her to especially empathize with the mental health concerns that many first and second-generation professionals and young adults face in our current society. She also enjoys working with entrepreneurs and business owners and understands some of the mental health challenges that come up.

Marisol is one of the few mental health providers in the DC area trained by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in the complexities of diabetes management and effective treatment strategies specific to people with diabetes. Having family members living with diabetes brings this issue close to home for her, and she is passionate about helping those living with diabetes. She helps clients experiencing diabetes distress, diabetes burnout, anxiety, depression, and adjustment conditions.

In addition to her licensure and ADA training, Marisol was also trained by the Harvard Medical School in Global Mental Health Trauma and Recovery. This state-of-the-art cultural and scientific learning experience gave her a therapeutic lens through which she’s able to address the mental health needs of individuals and communities affected by trauma in a contextually and culturally attuned manner.
